We’re stoked to announce our first ever Waikato Fishing Competition – and you’re invited! 

🗓 Event Details

• Date: 21 March 2026
• Competition Start Time: 6:00am
• Location / Launch Site: Boat ramp at the Waihi Beach Bowentown Fishing Club 
• Weigh-in Time & Location: No later than 4pm, at the Waihi Beach Bowentown Fishing Club

🏆 Categories & Prizes

We’ll have a range of categories to keep things interesting, including (but not limited to):

• Heaviest Snapper - 1st and 2nd 
• Heaviest Trevally - 1st and 2nd 
• Heaviest Kahawai - 1st and 2nd 
• Spot prizes 

💰 Entry & Registration

• Entry Fee:$25 per Angler
• Who Can Enter: All current Waikato members (plus optional family/friends)
• Registration Opens: Monday 23rd February
• Registration Closes: Monday 16 March

📜 Rules & Safety

To keep things fair and safe, standard competition rules will apply, including:

• Must comply with NZ Fisheries Standards for weights and limits. Minimum size for Snapper is 32cm. 
• A decision will be made Wednesday the 18th March if the compeition is to be open water or harbour only. 
• All rukes and regulations including catch sizes and areas will be detailed on the registration forms. 

🥪Refreshments and Accomodation

• For those who may want to stay Friday night and/ or Saturday night, there is a limited amount of accomodation available with some members. First in first served. There are also a number of Airbnb options available as well
• Restaurant and cash bar is available at the Waihi Fishing Club
